Trying this whole linky thing...

I'm linking up (or trying to at least) with Janis Leach from Grade Three is the Place for Me for the Newbie Bloggers Blog Hop! This is my first linky so don't make fun of me if I don't do it right! :) Plus, don't we tell our students that mistakes are powerful tools for learning? ;)

Here are the Questions:

 1.  what state you are in
    2.  your current teaching position
    3.  your teaching experience
    4.  when you started blogging
    5.  share a blogging tip / blogging resource

And now I'll dish!

1. I'm in Indianapolis, IN. and I have been my whole life.  I don't have any intentions of leaving, either. Indy.. you're stuck with me!
2. Second Grade at a public International Studies Magnet.
3. NONE! :) This will be my first year teaching! EEEEK! I graduated from IUPUI in downtown Indianapolis this May.  I student taught for a semester in 4th grade and a semester in Kindergarten.  While I genuinely LOVED both experiences, the little ones stole my heart!!
4. I LITERALLY started blogging YESTERDAY! It has already been an adventure.  I'm hoping I'll eventually get the hang of it.. there are many, many things to learn!
5. Well since I'm new, I can only share what I know as a viewer of roughly a million blogs -- give or take a few.  I think it's important to balance what you're blogging about. If you have a TPT store, don't ONLY use your blog to advertise your priced items! I want to read about your ideas, your exciting times in the classroom, and the exciting times in your life!

And now I have a question! When you're offering freebies on your blog... do you typically link it to your TPT freebies or do you do a google doc?  I have no idea how to handle google docs but if that's the way to go, then I will learn! :) Thanks!

As for freebies, I tend to use my TpT account, for the same reason, haven't looked into google docs, so if you do figure it out, share with us! =)

  3. Welcome to blogging Sam! I hope you love it as much as I do.

That is so exciting that you are about to start your first year. I would love to help if you ever need anything. =)

I post *freebies* on my blog and TpT store. I can try and help you if you want to try Google Docs.

I tried to follow you but for some reason my picture isn't showing up in your follow box. I'll try again soon. If you get the chance, I would love for you to hop over and visit me. =)

  4. Congratulations on your new blog! I like your template.
I am by no means a blogging expert, so take my advice with a grain of salt, as they say. What I try to do with my freebies is to post some on TPT and others only on the blog with GoogleDocs. I think (hope!) that encourages people to visit and maybe follow both places.

It's so exciting to be starting your first teaching job, Sam! Good luck to you!

  5. Welcome to teaching and blogging! The great thing about entering teaching now (instead of years ago, in the pre-internet days when I started:) is that not only do you have all the teachers in your building to learn from, now you have all your blogging buddy teachers to go to for just about anything you need!
    Stop by anytime!

  7. Hey, Sam! Great blog design. I'm excited to be your newest follower. I've only been blogging since the spring so I'm relatively new as well. To answer your question, I usually just link back to my TPT store and that's how *most* of the freebies I run across do it as well, but I have seen some Google docs used. Really, I think it's whatever's easiest for you. The idea behind linking to TPT is that hopefully people will start browsing and then might also purchase something from your store as an added bonus! To keep you motivated to blog, I'm awarding you with the 'One Lovely Blog' award. Stop by my blog tomorrow to pick it up and pass it on! :)
